When their teen daughter was diagnosed with cancer, Mario and Gisele DiNatale were devastated. Although she had excellent medical care and overwhelming community support on her side, Alicia Rose passed on at the age 17, having lost her courageous battle. Yet through their grief, her parents decided to help others by creating The Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation in their daughter’s honor. The Foundation has a very special purpose—to provide amenities and activities that boost the spirits of hospitalized teens.

The Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation will be hosting its 11^th Annual Victorious 5K, one-mile walk and one-mile kids race Sunday, May 19 at Virtua Hospital located at 200 Bowman Drive. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the one-mile events beginning at 9 a.m. and the 5K run starting at 9:30 a.m.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Lauryn Gaines' smile and laughter is contagious. The 17-year-old is preparing for her first prom, but behind the laughter is pain. Gaines has sickle cell anemia.

She spends a week at a time, twice a month at UCSF Children's Hospital in Oakland.  The staff is throwing their pediatric patients a prom to ease the pain and for a sense of normalcy.

When Alicia Rose lost her battle to a rare cancer in 2002, her parents Gisele and Mario DiNatale were inspired by their daughter’s fight and spirit and wanted to honor her and other children like her. In 2003, they funded their first Teen Lounge at a local children’s hospital and the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation was born.

Debra P. DiLorenzo and Robert Curley have been appointed to the Board of Trustees, and Jennifer Sciolla has been appointed to the Advisory Board for the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation (ARVF Corp.).

Students in two Lenape Regional High School District schools mobilized last week to benefit the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, sending a combined $1,700 to the South Jersey nonprofit.

As the New Year begins, local high schoolers and residents across South Jersey are raising awareness and supplies for hospitalized teens battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses

Yet despite the excellent medical care, many prayers, and overwhelming community support, their beloved Alicia Rose passed on at the age 17, having lost her courageous battle.
